COVID-19 UPDATE

Our school district will remain closed now through the entire month of April including May 1. This course of action is in accordance with Governor DeWine’s orders regarding all K - 12 schools in Ohio. At this time, Beavercreek City Schools would resume classroom instruction on Monday, May 4. As you know, the coronavirus pandemic changes circumstances on a daily basis and we will keep you informed of updates as they are available. Any decision regarding the continuation of classes at all grade levels will be made based on guidance from the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), our county health departments, and ultimately, our governor.

Online learning will continue through at least May 1, with the exception of April 10 (Good Friday) and April 13 (Parent Teacher Conference Exchange Day). This week’s online learning procedures will continue with our teaching staff as your main contact concerning instruction and how to best access available learning material. All assignments that require students to complete and return to their teachers will be posted on Mondays with an expected due date of Sunday at 11:59 p.m. of the same week.

The district is still determining how fourth quarter grades will be calculated for all of our students. At this time, the only decision made on this issue is Beavercreek City Schools will not transition to a pass/fail system of grading. It is important to emphasize that our district expects students to partake in online learning regardless of their grade level - this includes current seniors. This is consistent with Ohio’s expectation that all districts provide online learning in some form to help students grow academically.

Our district is committed to providing technical support to families as part of the online learning experience. Our Technology Department stands ready to assist you with issues related to your student’s district-issued device or connecting it to a suitable network. If you are experiencing technology issues, please contact your child’s teacher or email homesupport@gocreek.org. A member of our district technology department will contact you to offer assistance.

During the ordered school closure period, all facilities located on school district property will remain closed including all courts, fields, and playgrounds to our students, families, and community. All facilities will remain closed until further notice is given from Beavercreek City Schools.

All district-sponsored athletics, activities, field trips, and extracurriculars will remain canceled now through Friday, May 1. At this time, it is to be determined if any activities will resume at the conclusion of Governor DeWine’s ordered May 1 closure. As announcements are communicated through the Ohio High School Athletic Association, coaches will communicate specific details to parents, based on the individual sport.

Plans regarding Graduation and Prom are still being discussed and will be communicated to families when finalized. If the State of Ohio’s school closure order extends into May, this will have an impact on any decisions previously made and the district will look to see how we may be able to offer an alternative option for our students.

Please know the steps we are taking in response to the COVID-19 pandemic are in the best interest of the students, parents, and staff of Beavercreek City Schools, as well as the Beavercreek Community, based on the recommendations from the State of Ohio.
