The inaugural year of the Beavercreek High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) has started with tremendous enthusiasm and success. Nearly 170 students across grades 9-12 are enrolled in the program with an outstanding duo of instructors, Major Whitlow and SMSgt Mackey leading the cadets. The AFJROTC program is housed at Ferguson Hall and it is with much gratitude that the collaboration between our maintenance crew, administrators, and instructors have created a state-of-the-art facility for our students.
The program has already completed the first inspection from AFJROTC headquarters, and while not a graded exercise, the evaluator was thoroughly impressed with our unit. Had this been a graded evaluation, the BHS program would be rated "Exceeds Expectations" in every category, a distinction that we are all very proud of in BCS. Students have already begun presenting the colors at BHS home football games and will continue to build a presence in our community in the coming months.
