The BHS Band Program consists of six band classes (Varsity A, Varsity B, Concert A, Concert B, Symphonic, and Wind Symphony), which are grouped by ability level. All students must perform an audition for placement in one of these classes BEFORE enrolling. Auditions are held during the month of May for placement in band for the following year.

Below are various fundraisers that occur during the year

These fundraisers support the group as a whole and profits are distributed based on class enrollment

Band and Color Guard Fundraisers

  • Flower Sale
    • The flower sale, held every spring is a chance for students to make money to pay for band fees.
  • Restaurant Fundraisers, an excuse to eat out and raise money for the band at the same time! Check the calendar for upcoming events.
  • OMEA State MB Competition Judges Meals- we serve the judges and earn money while volunteering our time.
  • Annual Giving Campaign
    • In order to keep up with that growth, we are in need of funds to provide our students the same high-level of instruction we have come to expect. This includes items such as music for concerts, purchasing new equipment and instruments, and properly maintaining the equipment we own. We have started an Annual Giving Campaign and would like to honor those members of the community who choose to financially support our program by including their name in our concert programs.

Parents- We need your help!

In normal years we have a ton of opportunities, please watch email for specific needs this year.

  • OMEA Judges Food Coordinator - (Oct/Nov) Coordinates parent food donations and purchases to provide meals to OMEA judges at the finals competition.  Work with concessions coordinator(s) to move serving trays, warmers, serving utensils, plates, silver ware, napkins, etc are moved from concessions stand to Welcome Stadium locker room prior to first day of event.  OMEA Finals is at Univ of Dayton Welcome Stadium and runs two consecutive weekends at the end of the season and this is a major annual fund raiser for the band.
  • Concessions - concession stand sign-ups: https://signup.com/go/aDDSVhY PLEASE sign up early so we don't have to beg each week! We NEED all of you to volunteer at least some. The concession stands are our single largest fund raiser and keep us from needing to have fees similar to the bands around us.
  • Front Ensemble Crew - Volunteer to help move equipment from the truck to the field at football games and competitions.  You CAN both chaperone and sideline crew at the same event! Contact Brian Fisher 937.313.8608 (text works) and let him know when you can help. [ sign up! ]
  • Weekend of Jazz Coordinators - Several long time sub-committee coordinators are needing shadows.  Contact director@weekendofjazz.org
  • Band camp food service. Having band camp at home and using parent volunteers to help serve the food helps us save beaucoup bucks! https://signup.com/go/jSwUned
Here are the ways you can help!
    1. Sign up for a time to help prep, serve and clean up for lunch or dinner. This is a great way for NEW PARENTS to see the character of the band and interact with seasoned parents. Please sign up for ONE SPOT ONLY during this first week of sign ups. This is a very popular event and we want everyone, especially new parents to get a chance to participate. After the first week, any remaining spots are free game for anyone!
    2. Sign up to donate food. In the sign-up link below, there are slots to donate cookies and fresh from your garden produce. You may sign up for as many of these slots as you wish and you may sign up for these in addition to service spots.
    3. Participate in the McDonalds surveys - Each year our local McDonald's donates hundreds of dollars of paper goods and food items to our band camp which saves everybody a lot of money! The only thing that they ask in return is that we fill out electronic surveys. These will be available starting tonight at band camp pick-up at 9pm. SUPER EASY WAY for everybody to help keep band costs down.
  • Project 4: Band fronts
    · We will be using band “fronts” again this year. These are the flat walls that hide guard equipment etc. We have the old ones but are adding more. We need to shop for and purchase “fence rail” and then use a “chop saw” to cut them to length. We have the rest of the hardware to complete this project.
    · This project could be worked on during band practice.
  • Sewing - the flags are in process but we've added a couple of other "TOP SECRET" projects! It's going to be very cool! Please contact Mrs. Myers at myers@gmail.com , or call/text 937-829-9797.  (See calendar for dates/times)
The Beavercreek Band Program has grown exponentially over the last few years and we expect even more students to participate in our program in the future. In order to keep up with that growth, we are in need of funds to provide our students the same high-level of instruction we have come to expect. This includes items such as music for concerts, purchasing new equipment and instruments, and properly maintaining the equipment we own.

We have started an Annual Giving Campaign and would like to honor those members of the community who choose to financially support our program by including their name in our concert programs.

A large part of our program is ensuring students have the opportunity even if circumstances prevent them from covering all of their fees.  This has been taken care of in the past with generous donations, and will now be more formalized as part of a specific Benevolence Fund.

You can send checks c/o Beavercreek Band Giving Campaign, (Or Beavercreek Band Benevolence Fund) to
Beavercreek Music Parents Association

Or Donate Online (you will have the choice for either the Benevolence Fund or the Giving Campaign.)

“MAMMA MIA!”
INSTRUMENTATION

  • Guitar – 2*
  • Drumset and aux percussion – at least 2
  • Piano/Keyboards – at least 4 (there are 4 separate keyboard books)**

The Beavercreek High School Band and Color Guard is proud to announce the successful completion of its latest capital campaign.  The goal of this campaign was to replace and augment the marching band uniforms, purchase additional instruments and replace both a 43 year old semi-trailer and a 30 year old semi-tractor.  In 2017 we were able to refurbish a (new to us) trailer and for the 2018 season the Marching Band debuted new uniforms.  We are proud to announce the final piece has been completed with the purchase and restoration of a 2015 semi-tractor.

The staff, students and families of the Beavercreek High School Marching Band and Color Guard want to thank all the donors and sponsors who made this campaign a success.  It could not have been done without the support of Carl’s Body Shop, City Electric Supply and the Dayton Moose Lodge #73 as lead donors.  It is also important to recognize the countless hours volunteers spent in each phase who helped maximize the impact of every dollar raised.

In the last six years participation in the Pride of Beavercreek BHS Marching Band and Color Guard has grown more than 50% from 180 to over 320 members, making this group the largest extracurricular program at Beavercreek High School. In conjunction with this capital campaign, on April 10, 2018 the Wright State Nutter Center hosted more than 1,000 Beavercreek City School students performing in the All District Band Concert.

The Beavercreek High School Band program includes numerous award-winning groups including winter guards, indoor percussion, jazz bands, six concert bands, pep band and various small ensembles. Join us at our next concert February 20th.  For more information go to www.beavercreekband.org

Our next major event is the 19th annual Weekend of Jazz.  Special EFX All Stars and The Eastman New Jazz Ensemble will headline this public event March 1-2, 2019.  Tickets and more information are available at www.weekendofjazz.org

With great success comes great challenges. The cost of music, instruments, uniforms, and equipment for a growing extracurricular music program continues to increase while directors work hard to keep fees affordable for all students the fundraising continues.  Details on our Annual Giving Campaign are available at http://giving.beavercreekband.org
