DEPARTMENTS
FOR PARENTS
In Ohio, families interested in educating their children at home may do so by notifying their local school district's superintendent per the guidance of the Ohio Department of Education. If requirements are met, the district superintendent releases the student from required compulsory school attendance.
Parents or legal guardians who decide to home educate their students assume the responsibilities for the educational process. That includes selection of curriculum and subsequent materials. The school district is unable to provide guidance for this and there is no state financial assistance for families who choose this option.
Parent/Guardian agrees to:
1. Provide instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, History, Government, and Social Studies, and;
2. Notify the superintendent each year.
