november shine award winner

We are very excited to announce that 4th grader Liam Tompkins is Valley’s November recipient of the SHINE award for the 2023-2024 school year. Our Character Education program is a key component to helping our students understand what it means to lead and to be good citizens. Everymonthwehonoronestudentwhoconsistentlydemonstratestwoormorepillarsofcharacter which are: Citizenship, Caring, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Respect, and Responsibility. To recognize these students for their efforts, Beavercreek City Schools has created the “SHINE Award – Highlighting Outstanding Students of Character.” This is how Liam’s teachers, Ms. Welz and Mr. Minnich, describe him: It would not be surprising if the dictionary entries for “dependable” and “caring” included a picture of Liam Tompkins next to them. Not only is Liam bright, empathetic, and kind, but he consistently works hard and goes out of his way to help others. Everyday, Liam comes to class smiling and ready to work. He always does his best and strives to make the days of others better. In fact, Liam is even part of a small group that is working to help others by creating a presentation and posters with “Tips for Success in School!” We are proud of Liam and feel fortunate to have him in class. He is incredibly deserving of this award, and we are so excited to see all the big things he'll do in life. Congratulations, Liam! Thank you for being a role model to us all!
