📢✨ Parkwood Spelling Bee Champions! 🐝📖 On January 31, Parkwood held its annual Spelling Bee, featuring 18 incredible spellers from our 4th and 5th grade classes. After 23 intense rounds, we crowned our champion: 🏆 Winner: Saketh Sajay (5th Grade) 🥈 Runner-Up: Addie Adducchio (5th Grade) Saketh will go on to represent Parkwood at the Regional Spelling Bee at Wright State University on March 7, 2025—good luck! 🍀👏 Before the competition, we also recognized the top classroom spellers from our K-3 classes—congrats to all of our amazing spellers! 🏅✨ Way to go, Parkwood students! 🎉📚 #ParkwoodProud #SpellingBee #HardWorkPaysOff

📚 Fact Friday! 🧡🖤 Did you know that the summer before the 1971-72 school year, Parkwood Elementary removed a wall between its library and a classroom to more than double its size? This expansion created what became known as an Instructional Materials Center (IMC)—a resource-rich space designed to enhance learning for students. In honor of National Veterans and Military Family Appreciation Month, did you know that the Purple Star School designation began in 2017 in Ohio and that Trebein Elementary was part of the inaugural class to receive this prestigious designation? 💜✨ The Purple Star Award is given to "Military-Friendly Schools" that demonstrate support for our military-connected families. Today, 45 out of 50 states have followed Ohio's lead in recognizing Purple Star Schools. We are proud to share that all 11 Beavercreek City School buildings have earned the Purple Star designation. 🌱🥗 Mrs. Sutton's ELA and Science classes at Parkwood Elementary enjoyed a tasty and educational treat last week, sampling fresh salads grown in their Tower Garden! As part of their study on the roles organisms play in ecosystems, students had the chance to act as "consumers" of the leafy "producers" they helped cultivate.
