It’s Staff Spotlight time again! This week, we highlight Melinda Dyamod, a paraprofessional at Main Elementary. Melinda has been with the district for ten years and is so grateful to be a member of the Creek family. She loves making memories at BCS and has so many that she couldn’t choose just one to highlight as her favorite. When it comes to her career, she says Ashley Kitchen has been the most influential person. When not busy at work, Melinda enjoys being with her family, enjoying the outdoors, and trying new foods from different cultures. We are very lucky to have Melinda as a part of our district! πŸ§‘πŸ–€ #BCSstaffspotlight

More owl pellets. πŸ¦‰ Students in our new medical detectives classes learn about human body systems through labs and activities. They examined x-rays of broken and dislocated bones to learn about the skeletal system to diagnose patient problems. Then, they dissected an owl pellet, comparing the skeleton they found to the human skeleton. This class is open to 7th and 8th grade students at Ankeny and Coy Middle Schools.

If you don't already know him, meet Mr. Seilhamer! He is this week's Staff Spotlight. Mr. Seilhamer is a 7th and 8th-grade science teacher at Ankeney Middle School and the head girls' basketball coach. He has spent 22 years in the district already. When asked who has been the most influential person in his career, he said, "My wife and kids because I never want to let them down." About his students, he hopes they can learn from him how to be kind and empathic because you never know what someone else might be going through. If there is one thing he wishes more people knew about BCS, it is how much our staff goes above and beyond to provide a great learning experience for all our students.

Coy 6th grade had a day full of math and FUN as they attended the First Annual School Day Fieldtrip with the Dayton Flyer's Women's Basketball teamπŸ€. Stats of the game updated after each play, students completed math problems in their program book with the women's basketball team, and various students were given math problems to answer for pizzaπŸ• during the game. Students enjoyed watching UD take on VCU in an exciting 63-72 gameπŸŽ‰. Students sang, danced, cheered and were treated to an amazing trick shot performance by the UD 4 pack. Thank you UD for such Amazing Day!!πŸ‘πŸ“£

Today, we highlight Brian Shively, our transportation administrative assistant for our staff spotlight. Brian has worked for BCS for five years, and within that time, he credits Transportation Supervisor Lindy Shumaker as the person who has been most influential in his career. He hopes students can learn two things from him: patience and kindness. Also, if there is one thing Brian hopes more people know about our district, it would be the array of opportunities our students have here, ranging from music, athletics, academic teams, and social clubs to numerous other activities. We are incredibly grateful to have Brian as a member of the Creek family!

This week's staff spotlight is Dustin Ferguson! Dustin is our physical education teacher at Trebein Elementary. Dustin has been a member of the Creek family for 19 years, and throughout his career, he has been most influenced by Principal Lisa Walk. He hopes his students get excited to come to his class every day and leave feeling that they are cared for and with a better understanding that living a healthy lifestyle can be fun! He also wishes more people could see how well Beavercreek employees collaborate and how much of a family atmosphere there is throughout the entire district. πŸ§‘πŸ–€ Congrats Dustin!

This week, we highlight Ashley Bieller, a member of the student nutrition team at Shaw Elementary. Although Ashley began her BCS career only a few months ago, she says that recently retired student nutrition operations manager Dawn Kacvinsky has been the most influential person in her career since joining our team. If there is one thing Ashley hopes more people know about Beavercreek City Schools, it would be that we have a great community and awesome staff. She also hopes to influence our students by teaching them to be happy, healthy, and kind. We are thrilled to have Ashley as a member of the Creek family!
