Fairbrook Fifth Grade Explorers have been exploring our Solar System and recently completed the unit with a fun, cross-curricular project learning project that linked ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science! Explorer Groups selected one of 7 planets (including Pluto!) and researched information about their chosen planet. Then, using design thinking processes, explorers collaborated together and designed an "alien" that has adapted and is unique to their chosen planet. A passport was then created for each "alien," so that they could come and visit all K-4 Fairbrook students for a two-day Alien Celebration. The Aliens were loved by all and safely returned to their home planet.

The 4th grade students in Mrs. Bruhn's class had a blast making ecosystems. They discussed all the living and non-living things needed in an ecosystem, planned what might live in their jars, and gathered materials. Their ecosystems include dirt, moss rocks, creek water, clover seeds, worms, snails, and crickets. Their jars will help them understand ecosystems, life cycles, food chains, and the water cycle.

Links of Love was an amazing success this year. In fact it was a record breaking year! We broke our previous Links of Love total by over $2500. That is a lot of extra help for the Beavercreek F.I.S.H Food Pantry. Thank you for supporting this wonderful organization and thank you to our students from Anchored for Life and Mrs. Laravie and Mrs. Carenza for running the fundraiser.
