Congratulations to our robotic teams who qualified for the World Championship: 45434M Meltdown: Excellence Award, 45434G Ghost: Skills, and 45434H Aftershock: Skills! The VEX Robotics World Championship will be held from April 25 through May 3, 2024, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.

CREEK FACT FRIDAY! It's time for another fascinating tidbit from our community's history! Do you know what happened on February 1, 1934? If you guessed that it marks a significant milestone in our community's education history, then you're absolutely right! February 1, 1934, marks the establishment of the first Parent-Teacher Association (P.T.A) right here in Beavercreek! 🍎📚 This important organization has played a vital role in supporting our schools, fostering collaboration between parents and teachers, and advocating for quality education for generations.

The Bombers Drill Team won first place overall at the Air Force Association Regional Drill Competition hosted by Tecumseh High School finishing #1 of 19 schools! It was an exciting drill meet attended by 400 cadets from the top schools in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The Bombers earned a top-three finish in 8 of 10 events, highlighted by a first-place finish in Female Color Guard, Inspection, and Junior Varsity Color Guard. It was an impressive display of focus, camaraderie, and a “motivation check” for everyone in attendance. The Bombers Drill Team have won four competitions in a row and look forward to competing this Saturday during Air Force Nationals at the Nutter Center.

The Beavercreek Speech and Debate team concluded their season at the Ohio Speech and Debate State Tournament on March 2nd. * Sophomore Frida Lozano broke into the Top 20 of United States Extemp at her second State tournament! * Junior Nate Houseknecht broke to Quarterfinals in Informative Speaking, ranking in the top 16 in his second trip to state! * Freshman Kevin McCray Jr. gave an incredible performance as Beavercreek's first known freshman to make it to elimination rounds at the State tournament, advancing to the FINAL round of Declamation and placing 6th in the state! Congratulations, Beavercreek Speech and Debate team, on a great 2023-2024 season!

Beavercreek Robotics did a fantastic job at the state competition this past week! Five of our eight teams qualified for tournament play, and two made the quarterfinals. Also, congratulations to team Meltdown, who received the State's Excellence Award!! ⚙️⚙️

CREEK FACT FRIDAY! Meet Roger Coy! Born on March 9, 1932 (the same year Main was built), Roger's journey through our school district is nothing short of remarkable. 🌟 Before starting his career with BCS, Roger graduated from the Main building in 1950. From bus driver to assistant superintendent, he held various roles, including secondary curriculum supervisor, assistant principal, and social studies teacher. 🚌👨‍🏫 His dedication didn't stop there - Roger's very first position was as a wrestling coach! 🤼‍♂️ After 32 years of service, he retired from BCS in 1988. Bonus Fun fact: Roger's family are descendants of Jacob Coy, after whom Coy Middle School is named. 🏫 Tomorrow is Roger's 92nd birthday. Help us wish him a very happy birthday! 🧡🖤

Ferguson Hall's science classes got to learn about nuclear chemistry with Melissa, a talented nuclear medicine technologist from Kettering Health! Melissa captivated the students with fascinating insights into her work. She showcased how radioactive isotopes are utilized to help image patients with a variety of diagnoses and showed off some items from her personal collection of radioactive dishes.

Here's another podium alert! Freshman Faith Brown placed 5th in the 60 hurdles at the OATCCC Indoor State Championships! Congratulations, Faith! #CreekProud 🧡🖤

Congratulations Malaiya L, Kayleigh K, Aubrey M, and Alex M who have secured a remarkable 6th place in the 4x400 at the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OATCCC) Indoor Championship! 🏅 Despite being seeded 17th, these incredible girls showed immense dedication and perseverance, defying expectations and leaving us all in awe. 🎉 Congratulations to our outstanding team! 🧡🖤 #CreekProud

Congratulations to Cadets Delaney Lauden, Isaiah Segovia, and Anna Redenbaugh! These cadets completed a rigorous application/interview process and were selected among thousands of applicants to receive 4-years of 100% paid tuition at any university, a $10,000 per-year allowance for on-campus housing, an annual book stipend, and a monthly cadet stipend. Also, upon graduation, each will be commissioned into the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant! We’re incredibly proud of our cadets! #BHSAFJROTC

The image features Edward Zink, Frank Zink, and Otto Zink! Edward's legacy is honored through the naming of the Beavercreek High School Fieldhouse, Frank's in the naming of the football stadium, and Otto's name graces the gym at Ferguson Hall. The contributions of Ed, Frank, and Otto have left an indelible mark on our district. Yet, it's important to recognize that the entire Zink family has also made significant contributions. 🧡🖤 For example, the tree outside the athletic main office is in memory of the late Anton Zink. Also, Anton’s wife, Becky, has kept the scorebook for our basketball teams for 38 seasons now! Do you have a favorite Zink memory? Let us know in the comments!

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Lori Howell! 🌟 Lori has been with Beavercreek City Schools for 16 years and works as a bus driver and BHS lunch monitor. She is also "Rooted" in the BCS community as a Beavercreek High School Class of 1986 Alum! During her career at BCS, she credits Sue Rex, her bus trainer with Kettering City Schools, as being the most influential person in her career. Lori started her driving career at Kettering almost 30 years ago. Her favorite memories include meeting so many wonderful coworkers and making friends with many of them. While not driving a bus or working in the cafeteria, Lori loves to spend time with her family, taking trips to the beach, gardening, and attending car shows with her husband. "I am proud to be able to live and work in such a wonderful community with so many great people. I'm lucky to call Beavercreek home, " Lori said. We are lucky to have her in our Creek family! 🧡🖤
