Delay, Closing, Dismissal Information

TWO HOUR DELAY

  • Information about Beavercreek City Schools will be released to local media by 5:30 a.m., and should be on the air soon thereafter.  

  • Information will be posted on the Beavercreek City Schools website at https://www.gocreek.org/. 

  • Information will be posted to Beavercreek City Schools social media.

  • An automated phone call and text message will be made to all staff and families based on the information provided by parent/guardian in One View.

  • Buses will pick students up two hours after their scheduled pick up time, and students may enter the buildings two hours after the normal starting times.  

  • Preschool will operate on a Plan B schedule, which means both morning and afternoon sessions will report but will have a shortened day.  Please see below: 

    • Preschool Center

      • Morning: 10:15 am - 12:00 pm

      • Afternoon: 1:00 pm - 2:45 pm

    • Parkwood Preschool

      • Morning: 10:25 am - 12:10 pm

      • Afternoon: 1:00 pm - 2:45 pm 

  • Each building has a plan for conducting the remaining instructional time and lunch period.

CLOSING

  • School-sponsored activities for grades preK through 8th grade are cancelled,

  • High school extracurricular activities are considered cancelled but will be evaluated on a case by case basis and parents/guardians will receive additional communication if activities will proceed.

EARLY DISMISSAL

  • Notification of early dismissal will be released as soon as the decision has been made.

  • Scheduled school events and school sponsored activities will be cancelled for the evening. 

HOW DECISIONS ARE MADE

District leaders understand that the decision to close schools  has a significant effect on all families. The following information may help families better understand the process used when making the decision: 

  • District leaders undertake a careful analysis of factors, including:  

    • Information on road conditions from the district’s administrative team, transportation and maintenance staff

      • Amount of accumulated snow and/or ice 

      • Timing and duration of precipitation and inclement weather

      • Temperature and wind chill 

    • Weather predictions from satellite systems, local radar, National Weather and NOAA Weather Radio  

    • Impact on the district’s bus fleet 

    • Conditions of  building, grounds, and road 

    • Discussion with local officials
