Social-Emotional Learning Assessment

Beavercreek City Schools has taken significant steps in the past several years to expand student services to help us educate and support the needs of the whole child. We added school social workers to provide small group intervention to students as well as collaborate with teachers and families to remove barriers to learning. We have also provided instructional coaches to support teachers in promoting social-emotional learning.  In addition to our work in Beavercreek, the Ohio Department of Education has also adopted Social and Emotional Learning Standards to be implemented in all Ohio Schools. We are excited to have implemented these standards and are proud to see the work being done in Beavercreek correspond with the vision of the Ohio Department of Education.

To build on our work in this area, we plan to assess our students in their social and emotional learning this school year. This is being done through a survey/assessment tool created by Panorama Education. Children in grades third through twelfth will complete an online survey in class on the following areas:  Self-Management, Social Awareness, Emotional Regulation, Self-Efficacy, Supportive Relationships, and Grit.
