🌟 Staff Spotlight: Meet Lula Kersteiner! 🌟 If you haven't met Lu yet, you're truly missing out! Lula Kersteiner shines as the administrative assistant at Parkwood Elementary, and we're thrilled to feature her in our Staff Spotlight this week. With nearly 25 years of dedication to our district, Lu's journey has been shaped by the wisdom and kindness of influential mentors like Sue Bamford and Vicki Keivel, who have inspired and guided her along the way. When asked about her favorite BCS memory, she said, " After all this time, there are so many. But being 'a security blanket' for a young girl tops her list. "The girl was anxious about going to class, so she would stop in every day to hug her. I would tell her she was going to have a great day! She would smile and go to class." We also asked her what it means to be a member of the Creek family, and she said, "The saying that it takes a village is so very true today. We may not know what is going on in a child's life, but teachers, counselors, office staff, and administrators all working together to guide our children to be good citizens, friends, and classmates is so important. I am very thankful to be part of the BCS and Parkwood community. I hope I have helped make a difference in some small way." Beyond her dedicated work, Lu enjoys exploring the great outdoors with her husband and their beloved dog, Molly. Whether it's soaking in the beauty of Lake Erie or adventuring through Ohio and Kentucky State Park lodges, Lu's passion for travel and adventure keeps the roads hot, as her husband fondly remarks. Parkwood Elementary recently held a Valentine's Dinner Raffle to prepare for Valentine's Day and raised over $700 for Feed The Creek! Our outstanding students had the opportunity to buy raffle tickets to win an evening of delicious dinner and fun games with our dedicated staff members! It was a heartwarming event that united our school community in the spirit of love and giving. All those who participated seemed to have a fun and exciting night! 🧡🖤

Last week, we celebrated Global School Play Day! Global Play Day is a day dedicated to playing where students are encouraged to play without screens, structured games, or adult direction. The idea is to let the students explore their creativity, problem-solving skills, and social interactions while playing! #globalschoolplayday

We highlight Jenn Courter, a 5th-grade ELA and social studies teacher at Fairbrook Elementary, for our weekly staff spotlight. 🧡🖤 Jenn has been with the district for seven years and says her career has been most influenced by those she has had the opportunity to co-teach with. "They have pushed me to find new ways to challenge our students and brought joy to my day-to-day life. I could not do my job without them." Her favorite thing about working at BCS is seeing her students, old and new, achieve wonderful things as they grow and move through the Beavercreek school system. Jenn says, "The community at Fairbrook has inspired me to be more involved with Beavercreek in and outside of the school. Not only have I built a solid foundation in Beavercreek, but my family has as well. Finally, Jenn enjoys reading and hiking in nature when not in a classroom. #beavercreeksbest #staffspotlight

Another amazing MUSE Machine performance was held at Main Elementary! "A Deep Dive Into An Ocean of Words" left the audience laughing and learning. 🐟🚢 A special thanks to the always incredible Michael Lippert from MUSE Machine for his direction and to Mr. Webb, who made a special appearance during the play. 🧡🖤

The Beavercreek Speech and Debate team performed incredibly last weekend at their District tournament at Oakwood High School. Congratulations to our State qualifiers: Senior: Ruth Yu Juniors: Nate Houseknecht, Rohan Joshi, Rishi Mankala, Ella Schrader Sophomores: Frida Lozano, Tammy Nguyen, Aysiah Sims, Saha Teegala Freshmen: Matthew Blackman, Kevin McCray, Surya Selvam Eliot Chen, Julia Kutter, Amir Himed, and Mia Norton are alternates in the tournament. Please congratulate them and wish them luck as they represent our school against the best in Ohio later this month when they travel to Wooster for the State tournament!

At Coy Middle School, students can use their PBIS Points to buy a pizza party with the principal and their closest friends! Our amazing students, Hannah Stites, and Arabella Eaton, took advantage of this opportunity and cashed in on these rewards! 🍕🍕🍕

¡Vamos al mercado! This past week, Spanish 2 students in Señora Potter's class mimicked a traditional Hispanic market. The students created their own signs and products for their stand, communicated effectively in Spanish with the help of cue cards, and "purchased" products from each stand. The different stands included Spanish vocabulary for fruits, vegetables, ice cream, meats, seafood, pastries, and clothing. This project lasted five days, and in the end, they got to vote on the best stand, vendor, buyer, and bargainer! This was such a fun way to incorporate meaningful vocabulary and culture in a classroom setting.

Shoutout to our Creek Industries students at BHS! Their hard work and dedication have been instrumental in helping with a project to enhance the safety of all students at the school.
