⚙️🤖 Ankeney Middle School Robotics Team Shows Off Engineering Skills! 🤖⚙️ On Wednesday, February 19, Ankeney Middle School’s Automation and Robotics II class participated in the Spring Wrenching Battle Bots competition, and our students showcased some amazing engineering skills! They fully designed and built their battle bots using the 3D design, electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing techniques they’ve learned in class. What an impressive feat for middle school students! 🔧🎮 Team “Rolling Thunder” – Brady Husted, Payton Jentzen, and Jackson Holts – went 1-1 in pool play and made it to the semi-finals before losing to the eventual champions. 💥 Another team, “Sleeping Beauty”—Rylan Fisher, Jacoby Smith, and Owen Witt—also went 1-1 but faced an early exit in the first round of the elimination tournament. 🎭🔬 Students in Mrs. Hess' Honors Biology class at BHS recently took their learning to the next level by performing an impromptu play titled "Ditto!" 🔬🎭 In this hands-on lesson, students transformed into DNA and enzymes to demonstrate the process of DNA Replication. To make the play come to life, students had to deeply understand the functions of the enzymes they portrayed. 🌟 Student Spotlight: Mary Herdman 🌟 Meet Mary Herdman, a talented 3rd grader in Mrs. Carenza's class at Fairbrook Elementary! 🧡🖤 Mary has been competing with Quest Gymnastics since she was 6, and her hard work is paying off! At the 2023 and 2024 Ohio State Compulsory Meets, she placed 1st all-around—first in Level 2 (2023) and again in Level 3 (2024)! 🤸‍♀️🏆 This past weekend, Mary competed in Tennessee and earned her third consecutive all-around 1st place finish this season! With an impressive 9.7 on vault, she is now ranked 57th in the nation for Level 4 vault, and her Quest Gymnastics team is 38th on vault! 💪✨ With two more meets left before the Ohio Compulsory State Meet in March, we can't wait to see Mary continue to shine! 🥫🏈 NHS "Soup-er Bowl" Food Drive a Success! 🏈🥫 During Super Bowl weekend, BHS National Honor Society held its annual "Soup-er Bowl" Food Drive, collecting over 200 bags and several boxes of nonperishable goods for Feed the Creek! All 130 NHS members worked hard distributing flyers, collecting donations, and bringing food to BHS. Some even stayed after school to help load and unload supplies for the pantry, ensuring local families receive the support they need.
